Expungement Law Change

While we are still waiting for DUI checkpoints to return to the Jersey Shore, here is another important law change to consider:

On June 15, our expungement statutes were amended to permit “clean slate” expungements of entire criminal records in New Jersey. Before June 15, having more than one felony conviction or more than three disorderly persons-type convictions was a permanent bar to expunging a criminal record. Now, with very limited exceptions, the expungement of an entire criminal record is permitted after the passage of ten years. This type of “clean slate” expungement was previously only available to drug court graduates.

To see if you or a loved one qualifies for this extraordinary relief, you can contact Fred for a free consultation at 732-898-3232. We look forward to keeping you up to date on the location of DUI checkpoints once they return to the Jersey shore in the near future.
