Attorney Referrals
Attorney referral fees are paid consistent to:
New Jersey: (1) paying attorney referral fees to an attorney that is not certified as a specialist by the New Jersey Supreme Court is unethical and a crime under NJSA 2C:21-22.1; and (2) even referrals without pecuniary benefit subject the referring attorney to third-party malpractice claims, unless the attorney receiving the referral is certified as a specialist in the relevant field by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
